Two small tools for previewing how a photograph will translate to cyanotype before you coat a sheet of paper. Made for the Alternative Photographic Processes classes at ESAD.
Drop in a photo and see it as a classic Prussian-blue print. Exposure, contrast, gamma, blue depth, toning warmth, procedural paper texture and hand-coated edges. Save the result as a PNG, or export the negative (PNG, TIFF or JPEG, 300 dpi by default) to print on transparency.
Open the simulator →The multi-coloured process: three RGB-separation negatives, three toned layers, one colour print. Follows the Cianotipia Multicolorida handout — print order, channel pairing, saturation and per-channel curves. Exports the three negatives as transparency-ready files (PNG, TIFF or JPEG) in 10 × 15 cm, A5, A4 or A3.
Open the simulator →How to use. Load your own image with the button, by dragging a file onto the canvas, or by pasting from the clipboard. Hold Space to compare with the original. Best on a laptop or desktop — the panels are cramped on a phone.
Your images stay on your device. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
The tricolor process follows the Cianotipia Multicolorida / Multi-coloured Cyanotypes handout by Maria Solaguren-Beascoa Negre. The simulator is an approximation for choosing and pre-visualising an image, not a prediction of exact toned colour.
